Q: (18564)

I’m very nervous to use any chemical product on an ‘antique’ 1970’s era Moog synthesizer. However, the keyboard contacts as well as the ‘variable resistor’ knob pots all require cleaning – some feel sluggish to turn and have audible scratchiness when turned. Of all your products what would be the best and safest product to use – I’d prefer to keep the application of the chemical very ‘defined’ and avoid overspray.

Thank you,
Bill

A:

Hello Bill,

With old equipment we normally do not recommend any spray or any product with solvents.
They MAY deteriorate old post and switches.

Our recommendation would be to use one of our 100% sprays or liquids, DeoxIT® D-Series.
Part No. D100S-2 and D100L-25C.

Directions: Apply DeoxIT to ONE control and/or contact. Operate the device for several days. If no adverse effects, continue one at a time. If you require additional tactile feel on a control (fader), you can apply the DeoxIT Fader Grease, Part No. DFG-213-8G.
